Sioux Falls, SD -- In a special presentation in Pierre, SD on February 11th, the South Dakota Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) presented its 2010 Pro Patria Award to Midcontinent Communications. The Pro Patria Award is presented to those employers who demonstrate exceptional support for our national defense by adopting personnel policies that make it easier for employees to participate in the National Guard and Reserve. Midcontinent was nominated by Midcontinent employee Staff Sgt. Chad Westrum who is an installer in Sioux Falls.
“Midcontinent went above and beyond the federal law requirements and has demonstrated extraordinary support for their military employees and we were proud to present them with the 2010 Pro Patria Award,” said Don Kelpin, state chair for the ESGR.
'“National Guard members are positive role models for our employees, so to receive this type of award from such a special group is a huge honor for Midcontinent,” said Midcontinent’s Senior Vice President of Public Policy Tom Simmons.
