Sioux Falls Sept. 1, 2009 -- Midcontinent Communications has announced that DOCSIS 3.0 (or D3) technology has been launched in Yankton, Vermillion, Gayville, and Meckling, SD as of September 1. This technology will allow up to 50 Mbs download/ 5 Mbs upload broadband capabilities for residential customers with MidcoNet™ Ultimate and for business customers with the Advanced business package.

DOCSIS stands for Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification and provides these speeds by bonding or combining several channels into a single connection.
Midcontinent’s first introduction of D3 was in June with launches in Sioux Falls, SD and West Fargo, ND, followed by Pierre and Ft. Pierre, SD in August.
