I Can Watch TV ANYWHERE!
Posted: 04/04/2012 12:59 PM (None Assigned)
HBO and MAX GO are terrific.
My first impression was that it is super easy to set up. I figured it would take a while to load the application and input all of my data. However, I only spent about 5 minutes activating my account and was then quickly browsing the movies available for viewing. I really like how the movies are divided into sections so you can browse the genre that most interests you.
I am now able to watch HBO...

My Cable Days
Posted: 03/27/2012 1:33 PM (None Assigned)
My all-time favorite TV show is “Days of Our Lives!” I have been watching that since I was in grade school. Whenever I was sick, I would sneak out to the TV between noon and 1 pm and turn on “Days” while peeking out the window to make sure my parents weren’t coming home for lunch. They did not think I should be watching TV when I stayed home sick.
Then when I went off to college, I arranged my class schedule as mu...

March Madness Bracket
Posted: 03/16/2012 8:33 AM (None Assigned)
Well, I picked my teams and in the coming days we will see how I do. I am not really into sports at all, so for this I based my choices on the teams that I hear people talk about at work.
For the most part, it seems like some people like North Carolina and some others like Duke. Since those are the only two I really hear about, I made sure that they are the two that play at the end.
We'll see if I'm right!

It’s Time for an On Demand Pizza Party
Posted: 03/08/2012 7:00 AM (None Assigned)
Some people complain about winter, but I love it. Winter gives me an excuse to stay home. As a working mom, it’s not often that there isn’t something on the agenda.
I love cold days when the kids and I can snuggle on the couch with popcorn and watch an On Demand movie. We get
Starz and Encore from Midcontinent and usually can find an On Demand movie from Starz. But if we can’t find one there, we can almost always find one to ...

Bodybugg Keeps Me From Being a Slug
Posted: 02/21/2012 7:01 AM (None Assigned)
This year I decided not to make any New Year’s Resolutions, because they never seem to last. However, almost every other year I have had a resolution to get in shape and lose weight.
One tool that has helped me with this is the bodybugg from apex fitness. I found out about the bodybugg from the TV show The Biggest Loser. The contestants on the show wore the bodybugg on their arms in order to calculate the body’s caloric burn.
It c...

Online Discount and Budgeting Tools
Posted: 02/09/2012 12:08 PM (None Assigned)
The holidays definitely took a bite out of my budget. I use the Internet to save money by searching for the best prices on any big ticket item. I like to use Amazon to read reviews, but then I do a Google search for the item, and find it at the best price before securing a purchase.
I even scan items with my phone while in stores, and my phone tells me if I can get it cheaper elsewhere. In fact, I was at Wal-Mart debating about buying a game f...

Xstream’s Taking the Party Outside my Living Room
Posted: 01/31/2012 8:39 AM (None Assigned)
My favorite team is the Vikings. However, I really like Tebow from the Broncos, and last weekend I was hoping the 49ers would have made it into the the big game. Now, I will cheer for the Patriots, because I think it stinks how in overtime the first team who scores wins the game. The game between the Giants and the 49ers was basically decided with a coin toss, which I do not think is fair. So I DO NOT want the Giants to win, because in my opini...

I’m Internet Dependent
Posted: 01/13/2012 8:10 AM (None Assigned)
Midcontinent challenged its Xstream Team members to go for one week without accessing the Internet. Keep reading to see how many days I lasted.
Going Internet free for a week was definitely a challenge! It was especially difficult because it was Christmas time when I attempted this challenge. I missed Facebook and online shopping the most. I finally broke down and shopped online and paid my bills on Friday, after only four days of trying to avoi...

One Happy Family
Posted: 12/29/2011 3:15 PM (None Assigned)
I asked my 13 year old son to critique our MidcoNet Xstream Internet service. He said he likes that he can watch movies online and they play through to the end without any stopping or reloading. He also notices that he is able to get online quicker than before.
Before we had MidcoNet Xstream, sometimes his Dad would make him get off his computer because his Dad was getting booted off, now this is never an issue. The whole family can be online at...

The Capacity I Need
Posted: 12/12/2011 11:47 AM (None Assigned)
If I picked one item in my home to relate to the capabilities of MidcoNet Xstream, I would choose a filing cabinet. Each cabinet drawer is like a device in my home connected to MidcoNet Xstream. These filing cabinets have a huge capacity. I can file tons of things in them. When I need to retrieve something, I open a drawer and can quickly find what I need.
That's just like with my Internet service from Midcontinent. I boot up my computer,...

An Xstream Shopper
Posted: 11/03/2011 5:27 PM (None Assigned)
I use the Internet to be a better shopper. I use the Internet to research products, and then look for the best prices before making a purchase.
I had an experience buying computers that shows how important the Internet is when searching for a good deal. When I decided to go back to school to pursue my master's degree online, I realized I needed a new laptop to take school with me wherever I traveled. My desktop computer was also very dated since...

The Web to the Rescue
Posted: 10/16/2011 6:25 PM (None Assigned)
There are so many websites that save my day, but check out my top five, I can’t live without these sites.
www.google.com
I love Google because it connects me with whatever I want. Whether I am shopping, researching, or looking up how to solve a problem at work, this is the website I start with.
www.amazon.com
I love Amazon because of the reviews. Even if I am purchasing something from a different webs...

An Elevating Experience
Posted: 09/29/2011 9:26 AM (None Assigned)
The analogy may sound simple, but MidcoNet Xstream® service is just like the grain elevator in our town.
Our house has lots of different devices that are all connected by one wireless connection. The capacity of MidcoNet Xstream is huge and can support a considerable load, just like the grain elevator in town.
The grain elevator was quite small when it was built, but through the years it has been added on to several times, increasing its ...

A Streaming Success
Posted: 09/09/2011 5:09 PM (None Assigned)
In order to test all of our Internet devices in our home at once, I had to get my kids to help me out. Both of them were happy to help.
My nine-year-old daughter had her netbook and my iPhone streaming Netflix in seconds. I grabbed my husband’s iPod and started streaming Pandora.
It started to get a little noisy in our dining room - so we brought out the earphones! My 12-year-old son started shopping online for a compute...

1. My Hubby’s Laptop : My husband uses this laptop for all of his computer needs. He uses it to do work at home and to research products before making major purchases. He is in the military so he also utilizes it for printing orders. He is on his laptop about three days a week.

So far the new service is working great. Right at the moment, my family is using the PlayStation in the basement with a Netflix movie streaming, a laptop in the living room, an iPod in a bedroom and a desktop in the office. Four people on four different devices all on one Internet connection without any glitches.
I have to admit, I didn’t have any noticeable problems with my Internet connection before, but I have noticed the sp...

Frustration…A Thing of the Past
Posted: 07/25/2011 11:54 AM (None Assigned)
I remember the days of having to wait for websites to load. I could go pour myself a drink and get a snack, then come back to the computer only to find the page was still loading! Let’s just say this was very annoying.
Downloading large files—what a headache! This would take what seemed like forever! When I needed to download a lengthy article or large picture I dreaded the wait.
Don’t even get me started on being discon...
